Rogers RO4350B: Commonly Used in PCB High Frequency Board Material

With the development of Internet of Things Technology, automobile industry, electronic product manufacturing industry, communication industry and other industries, PCB board is the basis of making electronic products. PCB substrate market including PCB high frequency board has a huge space for development globally. Rogers RO4350B as PCB high frequency board material is favored by PCB industry, electronic products and other manufacturing industries. The reason for its widespread praise is closely related to the excellent performance of RO4350B material, including its dielectric constant, thickness, price, etc., which can meet the design and production needs of consumers. Since Rogers RO4350B is mainly used to make PCB high frequency board, then what is PCB high frequency board? Let’s take a look.

PCB high frequency board refers to special circuit boards with high electromagnetic frequency. In other words, high frequency board can be defined as printed circuit boards with frequencies above 1GHz. Its physical performance, precision, technical parameters requirements are very high, often used in the communication system, automobile collision prevention system, satellite communication system, radio system and other fields. As the material used for high-frequency board, the requirements are higher than the general board, that is to say, Rogers RO4350B is the base material for making high-frequency board, so its performance is better than the general PCB board, so that it can be applied to the communication system, automobile collision prevention system, satellite communication system, radio system and other high-end technology industries.

The important parameters requirement of PCB high frequency board is that the dielectric constant (Dk) of the substrate of the high frequency circuit board must be small and stable. Generally speaking, the smaller the better. The transmission rate of the signal is inversely proportional to the square root of the dielectric constant of the material, and the high dielectric constant is easy to cause signal transmission delay. High frequency circuit board substrate material dielectric loss (Df) must be small, which mainly affects the quality of signal transmission, the smaller the dielectric loss, the smaller the signal loss. The impedance of high frequency circuit board  in fact, refers to the resistance and reactance parameters, because PCB lines to consider plug installation of electronic components, plug into the electrical performance and signal transmission performance, so it is inevitable that the lower the impedance, the better. In addition, high frequency circuit board substrate water absorption should be low, high water absorption will cause dielectric constant and dielectric loss when damp. Rogers RO4350B can meet all the requirements of the above parameters of PCB high frequency board and at the same time achieve the condition of low water absorption, which is one of the important reasons that Rogers RO4350B substrate can be used in the production of PCB high frequency board.

Rogers RO4350B high frequency material is a glass fiber reinforced hydrocarbon/ceramic laminate, specially designed for commercial applications with large volume and high performance. RO4350B material is designed to provide excellent RF performance and cost-effective circuit production. RO4350B PCB has the characteristics required by RF microwave developers, and can realize the repeatable design impedance controlled transmission line of filter, coupling network and network. Low dielectric loss allows the use of RO4350 series materials in many applications, and the high operating frequency limits the use of laminated materials in traditional printed circuit boards. The temperature coefficient of dielectric constant is one of the lowest in all printed circuits. The dielectric constant is stable in a wide frequency range, which makes it an ideal substrate for broadband applications.

In terms of manufacturing, the processing and assembly cost of RO4350B material circuit is equivalent to that of epoxy/glass laminate, and the material of sample inlet and outlet must be flat and hard to minimize copper burrs. The recommended input material is aluminum and rigid composite plate. The thickness of the material to be drilled shall not exceed 70% of the length of the groove, including the thickness of the input material and the penetration into the substrate. The surface speed shall not exceed 500 SFM and the chip load shall be less than 0.05 mm as far as possible. Rogers RO4350B‘s excellent performance is mainly reflected in its thermal expansion coefficient, dimensional stability, availability and price advantages. The expansion coefficient of Rogers RO4350B material is similar to that of copper. The material of RO4350B series has a TG of more than 280 ° C, so its expansion characteristics remain stable at all process temperatures in the circuit. At present, there are many 1080 options for RO4350B laminate and 1674 glass fabric models that meet the requirements of IPC4003/10 monolithic RO4003C and/11RO4350, low loss materials, The standard epoxy resin glass (FR4) process can be used to produce at a competitive price. In general, Rogers RO4350B material is an ideal base material for making PCB high- frequency boards. Believe that it will be more popular in PCB manufacturing and production in the future.
