How to generate PCB files using templates?

Using templates, the user can quickly generate a PCB file that contains certain information, including board size, board layer Settings, grid Settings and title bar Settings, etc. Users can save commonly used PCB file formats as template files, so that new PCB design can be directly called these template files, thus speeding up the PROCESS of PCB design.

Invoke the template provided by the system

1. Open the Files panel and click on PCB Templates in the New From Template bar to access many PCB template Files that come with the software.

2. Select the desired template file and click Open to generate a PCB file, as shown below.

File-new-pcb Generates a new PCB file whose default drawing is not visible. Click the Design-Board Options menu item to open the dialog box shown below, and then select the Display Sheet check box to Display the drawing information in the current working window.

Users can set other information about the drawing in the Sheet Position bar.

A. X text box: Set the position of the origin of the drawing on the X axis.

B. Y text box: Set the position of the origin of the drawing on the Y-axis.

C. Width Text box: Sets the Width of the drawing.

D. Height Text box: Sets the Height of the drawing.

E. Lock sheet Primitives check box: This check box is used to import PCB drawing template files.Check this check box to lock the drawing information on a Mechanical Layer in the imported template file to the PCB drawing.

2. Open a PCB template, use the mouse to pull out a box to frame the drawing information you want, then select the edit-Copy menu item, the mouse will become a cross shape, click to Copy operation.

3. Switch to the PCB file to which the drawing is to be added, set the appropriate size of the drawing, and then click the Edit — Paste menu for paste operation. At this time, the mouse becomes a cross cursor, and select the appropriate place to place.

4. The user then needs to set the connection between the title bar and the drawing. Click on the design-board Layer&Colors menu item and the following dialog box pops up. On the mechanical layer 16 in the upper right corner, select the show Enable and Linked To Sheet checkboxes and click OK.

5. The finished effect. Users can modify the information in the title bar. Double-click any object to open its property editing dialog box. Of course, the user can also copy all the drawing information in the PCB template file, including the title bar, border and size of the drawing. Users can also save the commonly used drawing information in the template file, to facilitate the later PCB design, so as to speed up the design process.
