Relative to “hard board”, FPC board is called soft board, full name “flexural circuit board”. FPC board generally uses PI as the base material, which is flexible and can be bent and flexed.

Due to the advantages of flexibility, FPC boards are generally used in applications where repeated flexing is required. At present, FPC can be applied more widely in the smart phone industry based on its own characteristics.

FPC board is not only a circuit board that can be flexed, but also an important design way of connecting three-dimensional circuit structure. Three-dimensional structure can be combined with other electronic product design to build many different applications. Therefore, although FPC board belongs to a subset of PCB board, it is very different from traditional PCB board.

PCB board is planar in general condition unless the line is made into a three-dimensional structure in the way of filling film glue. In order to make full use of three-dimensional space, such as mobile phones, where internal space is at a premium, FPC boards are a good solution.
