Color is not directly related to performance, and the difference of pigments does not affect electrical performance. PCB performance is determined by the materials used (high Q), wiring design, and the number of boards. However, in the process of PCB washing, black is the most likely to cause color difference. If the raw materials and production process used by PCB factory are slightly different, PCB defect rate will increase due to color difference. This directly leads to an increase in production costs.

In fact, PCB’s raw materials are everywhere in our daily life, that is glass fiber and resin. Fiberglass combines with resin and hardens into a board that is insulated, insulated and not easily bent. This is a PCB substrate. Of course, the PCB substrate made of glass fiber and resin alone cannot conduct the signal, so on the PCB substrate, the manufacturer will cover the surface with a layer of copper, so the PCB substrate can also be called copper-coated substrate.

Because the circuit routing of black PCB is difficult to identify, it will increase the difficulty of maintenance and debugging in r&d and after-sales stage. Generally, if there is no brand with RD (RESEARCH and development) designers and strong maintenance team with profound skills, black PCB will not be easily used. It can be said that the use of black PCB is the expression of a brand’s confidence in RD design and late maintenance team. From the side, it is also a reflection of the manufacturer’s confidence in their own strength.

Based on the above reasons, major manufacturers will consider carefully when choosing PCB version design for their products. Therefore, most of the products with large market shipments in that year used red PCB, green PCB or blue PCB version. Black PCB can only be seen on middle and high-end or top flagship products, so don’t think that black PCB is better than green PCB any more.
