PCB board manufacturing steps

First: PCB film generation

All copper and solder resistant layers are made of photo exposed polyester film. We generate these movies from your design files, creating an accurate (1:1) movie representation of your design. When a Gerber file is submitted, each individual Gerber file represents a layer of the PCB board.

Second: PCB choose Raw materials

Industry-standard 1.6mm thick FR-4 laminated copper cladding on both sides. The panel size will fit multiple boards.

Third: PCB drilling

Create the through-holes required for the PCB design from your submitted documentation, using an NC drill and carbide bit.

Fourth time: PCB without electroplated copper

Thin layers of copper are chemically deposited in the through-holes to connect electrically to different layers of the PCB. This copper is then thickened by electroplating (Step 6).

Fifth: PCB application photoresist and image

To transfer PCB designs from electronic CAD data to physical boards, we first applied photosensitive photoresist to the panel, covering the entire board area. The copper film image (Step 1) is then placed on the plate and the uncovered portion of the photoresist is exposed by a high-intensity UV light source. We then chemically develop the circuit board (removing unexposed photoresist from the panel) to form pads and wiring.

Sixth: PCB pattern board

This step is an electrochemical process that builds copper thickness onto the surface of the hole and PCB. Once the copper thickness is formed in the circuit and the holes, we coat the exposed surface with an additional layer of tin. The tin will protect the copper plating during the etching process (Step 7) and then be removed.

This process takes place in several steps. The first is chemical removal (stripping) of photoresist from the panel. The newly exposed copper is then chemically removed (etched) from the panel. The tin applied in step 6 protects the required copper circuit from etching. At this point, the basic circuit of PCB is defined. Finally, chemical removal (stripping) of the tin protective layer exposes the copper circuit.

8th: PCB welding mask

Next, we coated the entire panel with a liquid solder barrier. Using thin-film and high-intensity UV light (similar to step 5), we exposed the weldable area of the PCB. The primary function of the welding mask is to protect the majority of the copper circuit from oxidation, damage, and corrosion, and to maintain circuit isolation during assembly.

Next, we printed the reference logo, logo, and other information contained in the electronic file onto the panel. This process is very similar to the inkjet printing process but is specifically designed for PCBS

10th time: PCB surface treatment

Finally, surface finish is then applied to the panel. This finish (tin/lead solder or silver-impregnated, gold-plated) is used to protect the copper (weldable surface) from oxidation and as a component to the position of the PCB.

11th: PCB manufacturing

Last, but not least, we used NC equipment to route the PCB perimeter from the larger panel. PCB boards are now finished and will be shipped to you soon.

This is a single-sided PCB and double-sided PCB manufacturing process, multi-layer PCB manufacturing will be more complex. Pressing lamination is required.

After 11 PCB manufacturing steps, we will perform 100% electronic testing on your PCB board.
